F-16 Viper

F-16 Viper Jet

The F-16 Fighting Falcon, also known as the Viper, is a single-engine, supersonic, multirole fighter aircraft originally developed by General Dynamics (now Lockheed Martin) for the United States Air Force. It is a lightweight, agile aircraft that has served as the backbone of the U.S. military’s air combat capabilities for decades.

In this tutorial, we will show you step by step how to make an F-16 paper airplane jet that flies, and provide tips for getting the best flight. Whether you’re a kid or an adult, you’ll find that making a paper airplane jet is a fun and easy way to explore the principles of aerodynamics and the science of flight.

Not only will you be able to create a fun and impressive paper craft, but you’ll also learn how to make it fly well. This tutorial is perfect for anyone looking to have some fun and learn a new skill at the same time. So, let’s get started and make an F-16 paper airplane jet that flies!

Materials Needed

To make your F-16 paper airplane jet, you will need the following materials:

  • 1 x A4 paper or download template
  • Scissors
  • Folding block (optional)
  • Ruler or straight edge (optional)

Getting started: Fine-Tune the Folding

You can use a ruler or straight edge to make sure all the edges and lines of your F-16 Viper are crisp and clean. You can also use a folding block to ensure the creases are true and correct.

Turn the page around in the landscape position and fold it in half (side to side) making sure the edges line up perfectly. This will create a crease down the centre of the paper, which will serve as the centreline for your F-16 paper airplane jet

To start to shape the nose of the F-16 paper airplane jet, open up the page and fold the two top corners along folding line Nr.2 forming mid-section triangle. Do this for both sides.

The first step to shape the body of the F-16 paper jet will be to fold along line Nr.3, The fold line runs along the bottom edge of fold Nr.2, from the top centre crease at the nose to the bottom corner of the page. Repeat this action for the other side on fold line Nr.4.

The mid-section is created in two steps. Start by folding the top part of the page down to the bottom on fold line Nr.5. Fold the nose back up on fold line Nr.6 on the point where the folds overlap for Step 3. Make sure the centre crease line for both folds line up.

To shape the cockpit area, fold the outer edge of the nose section onto the centre crease following fold line Nr.7.  Do this for both sides. Once done extend the nose, opening up the folds made in Step 4.

To prepare the F-16 paper airplane jet for the folding of the wing section fold the outer edges of the mid-section inward following the Nr.8 crease line. The nose of the plane will stand up. Squash fold the nose downward following the Nr.5 crease line, creating a revers fold. Once done fold the nose back up following the Nr.6 crease line.

To form the nose and cockpit area, fold the outer edge of the nose section onto the centre crease following fold line Nr.7, with a hard crease on both ends. Pick up the plane and fold it inward on the centre crease matching up the wings and body sections.

To fold the wings of the F-16 paper jet, fold the wing flap back down following fold line Nr 9. Make sure the bottom fold of the wings and the design match up of both ends and complete with a hard crease.

Look for the cutting lines Nr.10 on the wings where we will be making the winglets. Cut on the marked sections. Also do the cut-out for the rudder section.

Turn the F-16 plane on its back and fold the tips of the winglet inward on fold line Nr.12. Next, fold the winglets backwards following the guide line Nr.11. Do this for both sides.

Fold the rudder section of the F-16 paper airplane jet upward. For a hard crease, the section can be folded right to left to get it in place. Fold the wing lets upward AT a 45-degree angle to complete the plane.

Fly Your F-15 Paper Airplane Jet

Your F-16 paper airplane jet is now ready to fly! To launch it, hold the plane mid body and give it a good toss into the air with a 30 degree angle. If you have made your folds and secured the edges correctly, your F-16 paper airplane jet should fly smoothly and gracefully through the air. If it tends to dive down the back side of the plane can be adjusted upwards to promote lift.

Tips for a Successful Flight

  • Use a smooth and glossy paper, it will make the plane glide better and fly farther
  • Experiment with different folding techniques, you can make small adjustments to the shape of the wings or tail to see how it affects the flight
  • Try different throwing techniques, like a gentle toss or a firm throw, to see which works best for your F-16

With a little bit of folding and a gentle throw, you can have your very own F-16 paper airplane jet that flies. Have fun experimenting with different designs and perfecting your flying skills. This is an easy and fun project that can be enjoyed by kids and adults alike. With a little bit of practice, you’ll be able to fly your F-16
